Gelato Naia, San Francisco, Nov 23, 2008
Gelateria Naia, San Francisco, Nov 23, 2008

We were encouraged to try Gelateria Naia in San Francisco’s North Beach neighbhorhood, and it did not disappoint!  I had the Orange Mendiant, and Joe had the Nocciolo.  Great people watching and fantastic service.  Another good reason to love the big ol’ city by the bay.

Adventure Dining November 20, 2008

Well, I asked for it.  I put a call out on Facebook for a memorable dining experience in the city, as Joe and I are celebrating my bday in SF this weekend, and my friend Jen turned me on to a whole new ‘vision’ of dining.  Apparently the Germans invented this.  I love those Germans, they also invented nude airline travel.

Opaque – Dining in the Dark – will seat you in a literally pitch-black dining room where you will be guided and served by blind or visually impaired individuals that have been specially trained to serve meals in the dark, casually and comfortably offering guidance and reassurance for sighted guests…..”

Vodka shots chillin’ in Sonoma County November 20, 2008

Here’s a great reason to pick yerself up some faux fur.  My friend Paula designs and builds incredibly fun pieces – you can buy her creations in boutiques from coast to coast, and as of last week, through her own website, http://www.dumbclothing.com/.  I am digging this brown and blue number, pictured below.  It would be perfect for checking out the new Vodka bar in Petaluma, which recently got a shout-out on the awesome SF blog, http://sf.eater.com/:

“Sonoma County: Graziano’s Ristorante, an otherwise nondescript Italian white tablecloth restaurant in Petaluma, has put, as the website puts it, “a glass ice box right in the middle of the restaurant.” Said ice box/tasting room is called Vodika and is a freezing 28 degrees inside. Similar stunts have been pulled in Beverly Hills and Vegas, but never up north, let alone in Wine Country, let alone in the backwoods known as Petaluma. From the PressDem:

The lounge-within-a-bar-within-a-restaurant accommodates eight sippers at a go, part of the revamped bar scene at Graziano’s Ristorante. Sonia Perozzi of the restaurant says that 28 degrees is the only proper temperature to serve vodka … Faux fur hats and jackets are provided for your comfort.”

And they call Sonoma County the country…
Dumb it up, kids!
